Frequently asked questions.
First time fishing Alaska? You’re in good company — most of our guests are. Here’s everything you need to step aboard with confidence.
Before you book
Yes. Anyone 16 and older needs an Alaska sport-fishing license, plus a king-salmon stamp if you’re targeting Chinook. You can buy both online in a few minutes — we’ll send you the link when you book. Kids under 16 fish free.
Absolutely — it’s our specialty. Most guests have never fished Alaska before, and we happily take kids and grandparents on the same trip. Your captain rigs everything, baits the hooks, and coaches every step. You just reel.
A maximum of six guests per boat — and every trip is private, so you’ll never share the boat with another group.
We run May through September. King salmon peak in June–July; coho (silvers) are strong August into September; halibut fish well all season. Honestly, there isn’t a bad month — there’s just a different fish biting.
Yes. We meet you right at the cruise-ship gangway with a sign and have you fishing within minutes — and we guarantee an on-time drop-off so you’ll never miss your ship.
On the water
Dress in warm layers and bring a waterproof jacket, soft-soled shoes, sunglasses, a hat and any personal medication. We provide rain gear on request, plus bottled water and light snacks. Don’t forget a camera — you’ll want it.
We fish the protected waters of the Inside Passage, which are usually calm — far gentler than the open ocean. If you’re prone to motion sickness, take a non-drowsy remedy the night before and the morning of your trip, and let your captain know so we can keep you comfortable.
We fish rain or shine — a little Alaska drizzle is part of the experience, and you’ll stay dry and comfortable aboard. We only cancel for genuinely unsafe conditions, and if we do, you’ll be offered a reschedule or a full refund.
We provide bottled water and light snacks on every trip. For full-day and combo charters, we recommend packing a lunch and any extra drinks you’d like.
Your catch
Depending on the season and trip: king, coho, pink and chum salmon; Pacific halibut; plus lingcod and rockfish. Your captain targets whatever’s running best on the day.
Bag and size limits are set by Alaska Department of Fish & Game and vary by species and season. Your captain knows the current rules and will keep you legal while helping you bring home a great haul.
Yes. We clean and bag your catch at the dock for free. For shipping, we take it to a trusted third-party processor who fillets, vacuum-packs and overnight-ships it to your door. More on fish processing →
